PLAINFIELD- State Representative Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) recently launched a program to help senior citizens in his district stay healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of COVID-19 cases has increased exponentially and in more locations across Illinois with the IDPH reporting 93 cases in 13 counties in Illinois yesterday. These cases included all age ranges and do not have a clear connection to travel or a known COVID-19 case.
“With the recent updates from the IDPH, it is clear that the coronavirus is circulating in our community,” said Rep. Batinick, whose district covers far west Will County and Eastern Kendall County. “Our most vulnerable members in our community remain the top concern and I am asking for our community to work together to help these people. As the virus continues to affect more and more people, the health and safety of our entire community matters—but some are more at risk than others.”
To work to help the seniors in the area, Batinick has launched a Helping Hands program that will help the elderly and those at risk with any errands they may need during the coronavirus threat. Rep. Batinick is also looking for volunteers to help make this program work.
“The elderly and those with underlying health conditions are at serious risk,” continued Batinick. “My office is strongly encouraging those groups to stay home. If you need to go out for any reason, please contact us, and we can have one of our volunteers do that for you. We can run to the store, library, or pharmacy to get you what you need.”
Rep. Batinick also has a resource page on his website, repbatinick.com, to provide the most up to date information from the CDC and IDPH. If you are a senior that needs help with an errand or a volunteer wanting to help out, contact Representative Batinick’s district office at (815) 254-0000.
