PLAINFIELD—House Republican Leader Jim Durkin re-appointed State Representative Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) as the Republican Floor Leader in an announcement made earlier this week. Rep. Batinick has served as the Republican caucus’ Floor Leader since 2019, and will now continue to serve as the minority caucus’ point person during the Floor debates and discussions in the 102nd General Assembly.
Batinick hopes to continue to facilitate meaningful, productive conversations throughout this new term in the House of Representatives.
“The legislative process matters and our debates and discussions on the House Floor are an important fixture in that,” said Batinick. “I am ready to lead the charge for our Republican side of the aisle to help facilitate the needed changes we need for the State of Illinois. There has already been great change so far with this new General Assembly as we have a new House Speaker, and I am ready to continue moving on that same path forward.”
Rep. Batinick will resume his role as Floor Leader when lawmakers return to legislative session on February 10th.
