Rep. Batinick Discusses Urgent Need for Reforms with Reps. Elik and Welter
Last week, I joined Reps. Amy Elik (R-Fosterburg) and David Welter (R-Morris) in Springfield to address the lack of significant reforms from over 600 bills passed out of committee. There is an over-arching, yet constantly ignored need for change and reform in Illinois. We saw it in November when voters overwhelmingly said stop trying to raise taxes to fix the problems the General Assembly created. We also see it when our family and friends continue to leave Illinois for states with more opportunity and honest government.
While over 600 bills were approved out of committees and sent to the Illinois House floor for last week’s floor debate, nothing contained substantive reforms we need to take to move forward as a state. We need to see action on legislation for fiscal, ethics, and pension reforms that will get Illinois back on track.
