Batinick Reacts to Special Session House Passage of Legislative Maps

SPRINGFIELD – In response to the House special session passage of the legislative maps for Illinois for the next ten years, State Representative Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) released the following response:

“My Grandma Irene used to tell me, ‘Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should.’ I don’t think the people of Illinois sent us to Springfield to support legislation ‘to maximize political power and increase the partisan advantage for the incumbent.’ We can do that, but it doesn’t mean we should do that. I have called for and will repeat that what Illinois truly needs is an independent redistricting process. Politicians should not be drawing maps.”
