Rep. Batinick Hosts Plainfield Blood Drive this May

PLAINFIELD – Next Friday, State Representative Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) is hosting a blood drive in Plainfield with the American Red Cross. He invites constituents to join him on Friday, May 20th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Plainfield Township Community Center (15014 S. Des Plaines St.) to give blood.

“We recently realized the importance of giving blood and how necessary it is to donate blood frequently if eligible so we do not have a low blood supply,” said Rep. Batinick. “I’m happy to partner with the American Red Cross for this event for 97th District residents to give the gift of life. With new life from spring, bring new life with a blood donation!”

Individuals interested in donating blood can visit or call 1-800-733-2767 to schedule an appointment. Constituents with questions about this event can call Rep. Batinick’s office at (815) 254-0000.

According to the American Red Cross, every 2 seconds someone in the United States needs blood and/or platelets, and they cannot be manufactured—they can only come from donors. The blood type that hospitals most often request is Type O and red blood cells need to be used within 42 days.
