CANCELLED: Rep. Batinick to Host Free Self-Defense Event for Women & Girls

PLAINFIELD – Next week, State Representative Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) is hosting a free self-defense class for women and girls in the 97th District. The seminar will be held on Thursday, December 8th at Community Christian Church’s Second Floor Theater (24035 Riverwalk Ct., Plainfield) from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. One-Light Self-Defense world-renowned educators will teach the class.

“Situational awareness and knowing how to defend yourself can potentially save your life and protect you from injury or harm,” said Rep. Batinick. “I’m proud to be hosting this event for women and girls to teach them important and vital skills to stay safe. We will also be helping fight against human trafficking at this event by sending all donations to Women At Risk, International. RSVP today and join us next week for this event!”

The class will include self-defense, distraction, and awareness tactics and is for girls and women ages 12+. RSVP is required to attend this event and individuals can RSVP by emailing Beverly at or calling (815) 254-0000. While the class is free, any donations collected will be given to Women At Risk, International (WAR Intl), an organization that fights against human trafficking, rehabilitates victims, and gives a voice to those who have been oppressed.
